What Will You Choose to Do With the Time Given to You?

What will you do with the time given to you in 2026?

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

— J.R.R. Tolkien

As we step into a new year, this quote feels particularly on point.

A new year often brings with it a sense of possibility — a pause between what has been and what might be. It’s a natural moment to reflect, reset, and think more consciously about how we want to show up in the months ahead.

As 2026 begins, I want to wish you every success for the year ahead, whatever your hopes, ambitions, or challenges may be. My hope is that this is a year where you’re able to invest your time and energy in what truly matters to you — work that feels meaningful, relationships that matter, and experiences that bring you joy.

I’m heading into the year feeling re-energised and optimistic. The break was filled with the things that help me reset: time with family and friends, music on repeat, fish and chips on the beach, road trips, and slowing down enough to really enjoy the moment. That space — both physical and mental — has been a valuable reminder of how important it is to step back from the pace of everyday life.

Looking ahead to 2026, my intention is simple, though not always easy: to be more thoughtful about how I spend my time and where I place my energy. Like many of us, I don’t have all the answers — but I do know that being intentional is a powerful place to start.

In our work, particularly in People, Culture, and leadership roles, time and energy are some of our most precious resources. Where we focus them shapes not only our own experience of work, but also the environments we create for others. Being deliberate about what we prioritise — and just as importantly, what we let go of — can make a meaningful difference.

So, as the year moves forward, I hope we can keep this question front of mind:

What will you choose to do with the time given to you in 2026?

Here’s to a year of purpose, clarity, and meaningful choices ✨
