Authenticity is about the choice to show up - quote - brene brown - Mather consulting

Authentic Leaders. How do you inspire others to be their true selves?

Authenticity is not passive.  It is about consciously choosing how you want to show up every day.  How do you create an environment where everyone can be their best unique selves at work?

Here are five ways to foster authenticity:

  1. Help others discover their unique strengths and opportunities to apply these in a meaningful way.
  2. Role-model and advocate for different ways of being.  Experiences over the past few months have shown us that there is more than one way of doing things and we can adapt.
  3. Be generous with honest feedback and coaching and guide individuals to realise their full potential.
  4. Lead by example. Be genuine. Personally demonstrate high-trust and inclusive leadership.
  5. Be mindful of conscious and unconscious biases that are counter-productive to a genuine culture of openness and acceptance.

Authenticity is about the choice to show up and be REAL. The choice to be HONEST. The choice to let our TRUE selves be seen. – Brené Brown
