The University of Auckland's HR Advisory Team offsite with Mather Consulting. Using CliftonStrengths, the team is focussed on leveraging these talents to continue to achieve and have impact.

At Mather Consulting, we know that strong teams are built when people understand and play to their strengths. Recently, we had the privilege of partnering with the University of Auckland’s HR Advisory Team during their offsite — a day focused on connection, celebration, and planning for the future.

Building Connections and Celebrating Success

The offsite provided valuable time for the HR Advisory Team to step away from the day-to-day and focus on what matters most — each other. The day was an opportunity to build personal connections, reflect on achievements, and set a collective vision for the future.

Exploring Talents and Strengths

A highlight of the session was the team’s commitment to exploring how they could make the most of their individual and collective talents. Using the Clifton Strengths framework, Mather Consulting guided conversations that helped the team see how their diverse strengths can complement one another.

Rather than focusing on what needs fixing, the Clifton Strengths approach encourages teams to identify and leverage their existing talents. This shift creates opportunities for stronger collaboration, more effective problem-solving, and greater overall impact.

Laying the Foundations for the Future

The enthusiasm and openness of the HR Advisory Team made the day a real success. Their commitment to applying a strengths-based approach means they are well positioned to continue achieving results that matter to the University of Auckland and its wider community.

Thank You

A big thank you to Stefanie Boyer and the HR Advisory Team for inviting Mather Consulting to be part of this initiative. We look forward to seeing the continued growth and impact that comes from embracing strengths in action.
